# Safe Groups for Jira Cloud

### Overview

Safe Groups helps admins inspect Jira group impact before making changes. It is designed for group cleanup, access reviews, and Jira administration workflows where teams need clearer visibility into how groups are used.

The app is read-only. It does not modify Jira configuration or change group membership.

### Key features

* Jira group explorer for finding existing groups
* Impact summary for the selected group
* Risk labels for detected references
* Impact references table with source, name, location, and risk
* CSV export generated from the currently displayed results
* Advanced scan details for troubleshooting and validation

### Supported scan sources

Safe Groups currently scans:

* Permission schemes
* Project roles
* Filter shares
* Dashboard shares

Additional impact sources may be added in future versions.

### What the app does not do

Safe Groups does not:

* Modify Jira groups
* Delete Jira groups
* Change permission schemes
* Add or remove project role actors
* Change filter shares
* Change dashboard shares
* Write Jira configuration
* Send scan results to external services

Safe Groups helps identify supported references, but admins should still review planned changes carefully before modifying Jira groups.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://hiera.gitbook.io/safe-groups-docs/safe-groups-for-jira-cloud.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
