# Terms of Service

**Last updated: May 2026**

## Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using Hiera ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not install or use the App.

## Description of Service

Hiera is a strategic planning application for Jira Cloud, built on the Atlassian Forge platform. It provides hierarchy visualization, dependency mapping, risk assessment, capacity planning, workload management, OKR tracking, and portfolio views for Jira projects.

## Marketplace License

Use of Hiera is subject to the license terms established through the [Atlassian Marketplace](https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1914332338). Your license type, user limits, and renewal terms are governed by your Marketplace subscription.

## Data Handling

### Storage

All data created by Hiera (hierarchy configurations, field mappings, Strategic Parent assignments, workload plans) is stored in **Atlassian Forge Storage**, which resides within the Atlassian cloud infrastructure.

### No External Transmission

Hiera does not transmit, store, or process your data on any servers outside the Atlassian ecosystem. There are no third-party services, external databases, or analytics platforms involved in data handling.

### Jira Data Access

Hiera reads issue data (fields, statuses, links, comments) from your Jira Cloud instance via the Forge platform APIs. It does not modify Jira issue data except when explicitly triggered by user actions (e.g., updating a field via the detail panel).

## Privacy Policy

For details on how personal data is handled, refer to the [Privacy Policy](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RAnRhv4dNdZO5-CYYopwBDtj5R1vcNElVva9X-7Tlvw/preview).

## Availability

The App is provided on an **"as-is"** and **"as-available"** basis. While we strive to maintain high availability, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. App availability depends on the Atlassian Forge platform and Jira Cloud infrastructure, both of which are outside our direct control.

## Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer of Hiera shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:

* Your use or inability to use the App
* Any unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
* Any interruption or cessation of the App's functionality
* Any bugs, errors, or inaccuracies in the App

## Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be communicated through the Marketplace listing or documentation site. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
